Steph never thought she would do a yoga class, much less teach. She made fun of her mom for years for doing yoga. In 2007 she was diagnosed with PTSD ( post traumatic stress disorder). She couldn't handle being in public areas with big crowds. She thought she was going to have to drop out of college due to panic attacks as walked through the crowded hallways. She became depressed and really thought thought there would be no end since there is no "cure" for PTSD.
Her mom convinced her to try a cycle yoga class. She thought she was going to throw up during the cycle part, but fell in love with the yoga. She continued to attend class, and became more graceful and fluid in her yoga practice as she noticed her anxiety beginning to vanish. She moved out of the mountains and into the city, continuing her studies during the day and working the night shifts as a police dispatcher. She picked up American Tribal Style Belly dance to keep her sanity and build confidence. She loved yoga so much she decided to attend yoga teacher training. She wasn't sure if she wanted to teach, but in the end decided that this was the path for her! She teaches Yoga, Cycle, Barre, and Gymnastics. She plans to get certified in Tribal dance in 2014.
