Our Teachers

Meet The Team

Our community is small and family-like. We have a team of 15 regularly scheduled teachers, many of whom have been with us from our first or second year of business as a teacher or a client. Our teachers are certified in each class they lead as well as other modalities such as personal trainer, physical therapy or massage therapy.

Susie Nelson

Susie and her husband Greg are the current owners of The Cycling Yogi! They bought the studio from the previous owner (and founder), Patsy Juarez, in 2018. Susie has a degree from San Diego State University in Kinesiology with a specialization in Fitness, Nutrition and Health. She also practiced as a Physical Therapist before starting to balance a healthy lifestyle with the demands of a young family. After years as a gymnast turned marathon runner, turned triathlete, Susie began her yoga practice in 2009. She quickly discovered a regular yoga practice could reduce stress, heal injuries and deepen her connection with what she valued most in life. After years of practice as a student, Susie was ready to take her yoga to the next level—as an instructor. She achieved her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Certification and her Yoga Sculpt Teacher Training certification. Susie has also completed training programs with SilverSneakers and Dynamic Systems Rehabilitation.

Whether creating custom classes for individuals with disabilities/injuries or facilitating group yoga classes, Susie draws upon her physical therapy background to create a fun and mindful practice for her students. Her love and passion for yoga shine through.

When Susie is not at the yoga studio she enjoys being outside, traveling, hiking, shorter runs, playing tennis, ‘playing’ golf (recently started…not good), and spending time with her husband and two grown kids, Megan and Dylan.

Sammy Peltz

Sam’s cycle class is full of riding to the beat, hills, intervals, pushups, and more. While her class style and music change every ride, one thing stays the same: her energy.

Her yoga class offers the same energy with a lot less intensity, more centering, and the chance to slow down your mind and body to fully connect to your beautiful self.

Through smiles, motivation, breathwork, and badassery, Sam will push you past your limits to reach new goals and dreams you never thought were possible. During class you’ll become instantly energized while growing to be the best version of yourself. Ride and flow with Sam for a good sweat, a good time, and maybe a good cry.

Sam moved from Chicago to Golden, CO on September 1st of 2020 to explore all of the beauty Colorado has to offer.

Come for a ride, a flow, and a sweat and learn to love it just like her.

Let’s do this!

Along with being an instructor, Sammy also has A LOT of other responsibilities at the studio. Sammy handles client accounts, answers emails, manages our social media, is in charge of marketing and promotions, and…most importantly, tries to keep Susie (somewhat) sane! She’s a ball of positive energy and can help out with anything you need!

Jamie MannColorado yoga teacher

Jamie began practicing yoga in 2011 while struggling with a spinal injury left over from years of competitive gymnastics. Yoga provided her not only with some physical relief, but also a new found sense of mental and emotional clarity. Jamie loved the practice so much that in 2014 she felt called to learn to teach and pursued a 200hr Yoga Teacher Training course. Since graduating, Jamie never stopped being a student of yogic philosophy and anatomical alignment. She has studied Ashtanga under Shri R. Sharath Jois in Mysore India and Anusara alignment techniques from Amy Ippoliti in Boulder Colorado. Jamie’s classes are lighthearted and upbeat while adding just the right amount of spirituality and fun challenges.

Jillian Calfee

With a background in gymnastics and dance, yoga for Jillian felt like a natural progression. It wasn’t hard for her to find her passion in it at a very young age. While developing a deep sense of body/mind awareness and growing through the physical aspect of the practice, yoga made her realize how much the meditative and spiritual sides were quickly influencing her life in a positive way.

Upon completion of the 200-hour yoga teacher training program in Maui, Hawaii with wonderful teachers Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini, Jillian became the youngest in her class to have graduated in 2015.

Always embodying her sense of spirituality and divine femininity, she found yoga to be the powerful connection of soul she had longed for. Influenced by Iyengar principles, Jillian’s passion is to cultivate a sense of comfort and oneness in oneself and their practice. She aspires to bring out as much healing and grace to her students through yoga as it has brought to her.

Kelly Longwell

Kelly is a Colorado native who enjoys every minute she gets to spend outside. Her energy, spirit and passion for teaching are some of the many characteristics Kelly possesses. If you’re looking for an energetic, upbeat class full of fun moves, eclectic beats, sweat and a lot of laughter, she’s got the class for you!

Lisa Hazeltonlakewood yoga cycle teacher

Lisa moved from Ohio to Colorado in 2011 for the fresh air and proximity to the mountains. She has a love for the outdoors and can be frequently found with her furry companion, Bozeman, at the nearest dog park. She found a love for yoga during her college years after attending a yoga class for credit. During these classes she discovered that yoga helped her find an appreciation and love for herself. She continued on her yoga journey after moving to Colorado and was lucky enough to find The Cycling Yogi. While attending classes at the studio she felt strong and confident and knew she would like to take her learning of yoga to new heights.

After practicing for 5 years she decided to take the leap and attend a yoga teacher training. She has never looked back and is excited to share the benefits of yoga with others! She loves teaching high energy Vinyasa flows but also appreciates slow flows/restorative classes that help us all connect with our minds and bodies.

Patsy Juarez colorado yoga teacher

Patsy grew up in the mountains of Colorado leading an active lifestyle. She enjoyed lifting weights and Rollerblading almost daily. Working the evening shift at the hospital, her philosophy was to “play” at the beginning of her day when she was energized and to earn a paycheck while she “recovered”. She moved to Denver in 1996 and earned her B.S. in Business Management from the University of Colorado. She is passionate about wellness and nutrition and enjoys studying these topics. Looking for a new workout, she discovered yoga. She attended classes for the exercise and found herself driving home afterward in a state of bliss. With regular practice she experienced less stress and back pain.

After falling in love with cycle/yoga, she began her training in the Fall of 2009.  She has since been trained in yoga sculpt and is certified in TRX, Barre, Tabata Bootcamp and a 2nd 200 hr yoga certification.

Patsy enjoys teaching new students and gets excited when a student accomplishes something they didn’t think they could do.

She graduated from her 200hr teacher training in 2019 and completed her 300hr yoga training in Bali, Indonesia in 2023. Openness to the present moment and integrity of the subtle body is of the essence for Sarah on her yoga mat. Her classes are guided by a powerful yet gentle voice, with flows that blend creativity and tradition to leave you feeling balanced, light and strong. When not in the studio, Sarah can be found playing cello and piano, exploring Colorado, or hanging out with her boyfriend and two French bulldogs.
